Florida’s housing programs need all trust-fund revenue

Last week, the National Low Income Housing Coalition released its Out of Reach report, a national report card on the housing wage — how much a family needs to earn to afford the fair-market rent in a given jurisdiction. For the Orlando area, the housing wage is $18.90. Unfortunately, that does not reflect the wages earned by the vast majority of the work force of a tourist-based economy, as well as the fixed income that constrains Florida’s elderly and disabled populations in finding a safe and suitable place to live.
